SAVF Huis Silversig was established on 13 September 1980 as a Home for the frail Elderly. We are located at 513 Jasmine Avenue, Silverton, Pretoria. SAVF Huis Silversig provides 24-hour care for 125 frail elderly people as well as a closed-off unit for women with Dementia. The home is run by the most beautiful souls,
The Mission
Terra Cares Foundation was contacted by Huis Silversig for sponsorship for residents who no longer have families. Due to COVID-19 there has been an increase in the amount of elderly who need financial support due to families being laid off work. This has put Huis Silversig under a lot of pressure to provide the essential needs for their residents along with the PPE requirements during COVID-19 to keep residents and staff safe. The PPE Expenses per month alone amount to around R40,000.00. This elderly home supports 10 individuals at the moment who no longer have family around to help them.
Contributions
Terra Cares Foundation in association with Terra Parts & Solutions assisted with food, supplements and PPE donations for Huis Silversig. It was a hearty effort that involved all employees from Terra Parts. All employees dedicated time to making blankets for the elderly home as an added contribution.
